About the Event
Rat problems, owl solutions - Seminar with Stefan Hattingh
Join us as part of this year's Peaks to Points Festival as we illuminate the remarkable world of owls, spotlighting their exceptional pest control abilities and the peril posed by rat poisons.
Owls, as predators, play an important role in the ecosystem by curbing small animal populations, with mammals, notably rodents, forming a significant portion of their prey. Barn owls, found on every continent except Antarctica, are valuable biological pest controllers. Nesting near or within farm fields, they specialise in rodent hunting, with a single pair of barn owls eradicating thousands of rodents annually.
Presented by Stefan Hattingh, this event delves into the captivating realm of owls. Discover the profound impact of rat poisons on owls and other wildlife, and learn how you can contribute to the solution. Limited spaces available. Please secure your spot. Light refreshments provided. Venue: Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee Discovery Centre, Entrance at 21 Wright St, Carindale
