About the Event
Harding’s Paddock is an Ipswich City Council reserve, part of the Flinders Karrawatha corridor. To get there, take the Ipswich-Boonah road south of Yamanto and turn left into Carmichael Road, about 6 km south of the Cunningham Highway. Follow Carmichael Road to the end (most of the road is unsealed). Meet at the first picnic ground at 7.30 a.m.
We will walk the Gamlen Circuit (rated moderate – one steep climb/descent – about 3km) from the picnic ground through open woodland (mostly wattle regrowth); then uphill through forest to the ridge with Spotted Gum and Ironbark, and back down a steep slope. We expect many bush birds which could include various honeyeaters, lorikeets, robins and Grey Crowned Babblers, and hope to record about 40-50 bird species.
What to bring: BYO morning tea, water bottle and comfortable clothing to complete the walk, including enclosed shoes.
